What is slander

To bring forth an accusation against a saint who is in good standing and of good moral character witnessed by her church, her school, her family, her friends and the society at large is a grave charge. Such an accusation at the very least should have backing and proofs. Also, such an accusation should be brought in the proper way before a group of peers and in the the church or school who have the jurisdiction in such a case. To reject due process of law is a serious breach of justice; preferring slander, gossip, and diabolous accusation to true judgment and proof.

Eph4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not:let not the sun go down upon your wrath:27 Neither give place to the devil.

ITim. 3:11 the word translated “slanderer” is διαβολοσ.

II Tim. 3:3 among the list of self-centered characteristics of the most dangerous people is “false accusers” = διαβολοι

My job as I see it here, is to instruct with the Word of God and grace, in order to recover a brother out of the snare of the devil. That is the office of any healer of breaches. IITim. 2:24-26. The spirit of healing and reconciliation is also presented in Matt. 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. The main wrong in Matthew is a schism or breach of fellowship between brethren. The most aggregious is when a young child is involved, which could potentially push them away from the Lord, i.e. offend them or cause them to stumble. A diabolical stumbling block of false accusation is a cause of great offense. The process of discipline in Matthew was to heal the schism, the offense and the breach.Mat 18: 15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. 21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.. Three steps were to be followed, but in none of those steps was public slander to have a place.

The accusation I received indicated that I was wrong, but did not back up this indication with instances or examples. The message had the tone only of condemnation and gloating which confirmed in my mind that it is was diabolical in character. We know that diabolos would like to get an advantage of us as Christians through anger and evil speaking, shunning the due process of justice. We are not ignorant, however, of his devices. So we should not allow the these diabolical tactics to be used in confronting evil. So, the Word of God is our only place of refuge and our only source of grace to answer these accusations.
